Jamie Nash–Career Retrospect

We’ve previous covered the career of Carly Cator and Carolyn Blair-Mobley.

Today we’ll cover Jamie Nash’s career with the Mavericks. Jamie came to the Mavericks by way of Verona, Missouri where she was a standout basketball player earning first team all-district honors. She made an impact at UNO quickly with 14 points, four rebounds, six assists and five steals in her opening game vs. Dana. She came off the bench for her first three games before starting for the first time against Oklahoma Panhandle State. The rest is history and by now she’s made 101 starts and become the career leader in assists and steals at UNO. At this point she has 1089 career points, 412 career rebounds, 552 career assists, 358 career steals and 7 career blocks. Woah. It’s just crazy looking at that much production from one player.

1st Point – 11/15/09 vs. Dana – Jamie’s first points came as she scored a fast break jumper to tie things at 13 with 12:42 left in the first half after she stole the ball from Megan Finn.
100th Point – 1/14/10 @ Southwest Baptist – In a game most noteworthy for Sara Reeves being the only Maverick to reach double figures (four other Mavericks on that roster would go on to score 1,000 career points) Nash reached 100 points on a layup with 2:45 left that made it 54-48 Omaha. Nash would end up with nine points that evening.
200th Point – 11/12/10 vs. York College – Jamie reached 200 points in the first game of her sophomore season. With 1:56 left in the first half and UNO up eight Jamie got a fast break layup to pass 200 career points.
300th Point – 1/2/11 @ Missouri Western – Nash hit two FTs with 1:08 left in the 1st half to get Omaha within six at 34-28 and give her 300 career points.
400th Point – 1/29/11 @ Lincoln University – Jamie hit a three pointer with Omaha down 69-50 and just 1:54 left to reach 400 career points.
500th Point – 11/11/11 vs. Western State – After scoring her 1st point in the opening game of 2009 and scoring her 200th point in the opening game of 2010 she scored her 500th point in the opening game of 2011. It came with 13:20 left and Omaha leading 46-36 when she got a layup.
600th Point – 12/7/11 vs. College of Saint Mary – Jamie had 20 points in this one and the 20th was her 600th career point, coming with 6:54 left and Omaha up 74-37. Jamie got a fast break layup assisted by Taijhe Kelly.
700th Point – 1/11/12 @ Kansas City – Nash got a layup with 14:20 left in this one to cut the Kansas City lead to 42-37 and move her past 700 career points.
800th Point – 2/10/12 vs. Dakota Wesleyan – Nash hit a three pointer with 3:05 left in the first half to cut the Dakota Wesleyan lead to 31-29 and help her pass 800 career points. Nash scored 17 in the first half and 25 in the game.
900th Point – 11/30/12 vs. UT Arlington – Just 1:07 into the 2nd half Jamie Nash hit a three pointer to take her past 900 career points and make this one 43-14 Mavericks.
1000th Point  – 1/17/13 @ Chicago State – Nash passed the 1000 point mark on a three pointer with 6:37 left in the game that made it 48-33 and was assisted by Carolyn Blair-Mobley. Nash would end up with 10 points in the game.

1st Rebound – 11/15/09 vs. Dana – Jamie Nash checked into her first college game at the 16:22 mark and promptly grabbed a defensive rebound with 15:23 left. Ralene Buschow had gone up for a jumper and Ashley Nelson blocked it with the ball ending up in Nash’s hands.
100th Rebound – 11/12/10 vs. York College – Nash’s 100th rebound came just 3:31 into her sophomore season when she grabbed her own missed layup with the Mavericks trailing by three. Jessica Zaruba would end up scoring on the possession.
200th Rebound – 2/26/11 vs. Pittsburg State – Jamie would grab 11 rebounds in this game and the 5th, a defensive rebound of a Laura Glenn jumper with 18:12 left, would be the 200th of her career.
300th Rebound – 2/2/12 vs. Sioux Falls – Just 3:10 into this one Nash would grab a defensive rebound after a Jamey Hofer missed jumper with the score 3-2 Sioux Falls. It was the 300th of her career.
400th Rebound – 2/2/13 @ Oakland – Jamie’s 400th career rebound came very late in this one. After going to the FT line up three with 10 second left Jamie hit the front end and then missed the backend. She reacted quickly and was able to grab her own miss to get her 400th career rebound.

1st Assist – 11/15/09 vs. Dana – Nash’s first assist came with 8:35 left in the first half when she set up Heather Pohl for a three-pointer that made it 24-19 Omaha.
100th Assist – 12/8/10 @ Emporia State – Jamie set up Heather Pohl for a layup and Jamie’s 100th career assist with 4:18 left in the game and the Mavericks trailing 57-46.
200th Assist – 2/26/11 vs. Pittsburg State – Nash got her 200th career assist when she set up Amanda Woodring for a three that made it 58-49 Omaha with 9:31 left. Omaha would go on to win 79-73 to win the final game of the D2 era.
300th Assist – 1/3/12 @ Saint Louis – Jamie passed to Paige Frauendorfer for a jumper that tied this game at 16 with 8:39 left and gave her 300 career assists.
400th Assist – 11/18/12 vs. Northern Arizona – Nash had 11 assists in this one and the last assist, a pass to Paige Frauendorfer for a layup, was the 400th assist of Nash’s career and made it 76-73 Omaha with 1:52 left.
475th Assist –  1/5/13 vs. Fort Wayne – Jamie broke the school assist record when she passed to Stacia Gebers for a layup with 14:17 left that gave Omaha a 38-37 lead.
500th Assist – 1/24/13 vs. North Dakota State – Nash became the first Maverick to record 500 career assists when she passed to Stacia Gebers for a layup that made it 13-11 with 9:44 left in the first half.

1st Steal – 11/15/09 vs. Dana – Jamie’s first steal came with 12:42 left in the first half when she took the ball away from Megan Finn and would quickly score a pull-up jumper on the fast break to tie the game at 13.
50th Steal – 1/16/10 @ Missouri Southern – Nash got her 50th steal early in this one as she picked Randi Henderson’s pocket with 15:34 left and would quickly score a layup to make it 9-2.
100th Steal – 11/27/10 vs. Calumet College of St. Joseph – Jamie would have a career-high 11 steals in this one but her 4th, just 3:43 into the game, would be the 100th of her career and quickly turned into a fast break layup to make it 11-2 Omaha.
200th Steal – 12/3/11 vs. Briar Cliff – Nash got her 200th steal quickly in this one as she took the ball from Kela Chiak just 1:56 into the game.
300th Steal – 12/4/12 vs. Tulsa – With 16:47 left in this one Jamie Nash took the ball from Kelsee Grovey for her 300th career steal.
332nd Steal – 1/17/13 @ Chicago State – Nash needed four steals to the school steals record and she got it with just 22 seconds left when she stole the ball from Jackie Jones and went the other way for a fast break layup to make it 62-45.

1st Block – 11/28/09 vs. Chadron State – Nash’s first block came with 5:41 left in the first half when she blocked a Rachael Smidt jumper. The ball went out of bounds with the Mavericks trailing 23-17.
5th Block – 1/26/11 vs. Fort Hays State – Jamie’s 5th career block game on a Kara Champlin layup attempt with just four seconds left in regulation and the game tied 59-59. Katie Kane would secure the rebound and Jamie would have a layup attempt at the buzzer that was no good. the teams would head to OT where Fort Hays would eventually win by five.
