2013 Summit League Postseason Projections–2/13

We’re around a month away from Selection Sunday so now sounds like as good a time as any to start looking at bracket projections for the Summit League.  It’s pretty clear the Summit will again be a one bid league this year, and that team will be determined in Sioux Falls. Still, we can get a feel for where people think that team could be seeded.

I’ve found the sites I’m using for the projections from http://bracketproject.50webs.com/matrix.htm It’s a fantastic site linking you to tons of information about various projections out there.

I decided to use seven of their best brackets from last year along with three very prominent brackets. Here’s our panelists:
1. – Lobofan2003’s Bracketology
2. – D1scourse/USA Today’s – Patrick Stevens
3. – Beer’s Bracket
4. – Busting the Bracket
5. – Bracketville
6. – The Bracket Project
7. – Brad-ketology
8. – Yahoo Sports – Brad Evans
9. – CBS Sports – Jerry Palm
10.– ESPN Bracketology – Joe Lunardi

Now yes some of the names may scare you but these guys have been doing brackets for at least three years and have scored the best, all of them better than Joe Lunardi who is the expert of the field.

Here’s the projections they have.

Predictor Team In Seed Play-In Opponent (If Applicable) Opponent Location Regional Date of Prediction
Lobofan2003 Western Illinois 15 None Syracuse Philadelphia Midwest 2/11/13
Patrick Stevens Western Illinois 16-Play In Southwestern Indiana Dayton South 2/12/13
Beer’s Bracket South Dakota State 14 None Gonzaga San Jose West 2/9/13
Busting the Bracket Western Illinois 16 2/11/13
Bracketville Western Illinois 15 None Arizona San Jose West 2/12/13
The Bracket Project Western Illinois 16 2/11/13
Brad-ketology South Dakota State 14 2/10/13
Brad Evans North Dakota State 14 2/11/13
Jerry Palm Western Illinois 16 None Miami (FL) Lexington South 2/11/13
Joe Lunardi Western Illinois 15 None Florida Lexington South 2/11/13

This would seem to indicate South Dakota State would be in better shape seeding wise than Western Illinois if they get the bid. I’m not as sure about North Dakota State, but they do have a solid RPI.

Hopefully next week we’ll be able to add NIT-projections as well to see if people think there’s much chance of getting a team or two into that.
